FREQUENTLY ASKED

I've never ridden before/haven’t ridden in a long time. Is that a problem?

Nope! We are always super excited to introduce beginners to the wonderful world of horses! We’d be more than happy to find you a suitable coach to start learning to horseback ride. If you're unsure if riding is for you, you’re more than welcome to come watch a lesson or even join us at a show! Additionally, almost all our trail rides are beginner friendly.

Do you guys go to horse shows?

Yes we do! We have two show teams at UBC!

The Dressage Team is based out of the club and trains & shows locally. You are paired with your own horse to have as a partner in competition if you do not have one already.

The Hunt Seat Team is based out of Thunderbird Sport Clubs and trains locally but shows in the US. You train on a variety of horses and compete on a different horse each time.

How do I get non-riding horse experience in Vancouver?

The best way to get involved is to become a member and attend our events! We have lots of members for you to befriend that can help you find ways to interact with horses. You can also volunteer or search for paid positions at local horse barns.

How do I ride in Vancouver?

Believe it or not, it is possible to ride horses while living in Vancouver! If you have your own horse, it's simple. If you don't have a horse, you can go to one of the many lesson barns in the surrounding areas. Members are given access to our barn carpools, where we go to local horse barns multiple times each week to take riding lessons and spend time with horses. You can also sign up for our trail ride or Equestrian Games events, where we ride horses!
